Err..
I’m not really good in making reviews, coz sometimes I add up my own thoughts which I guess pretty much distracting, but at least I’ve tried.
So here it goes:
Darren and Steve are best friends, despite the fact that they had almost nothing in common. Darren is a healthy, smart and good boy, live with a happy family, never get into trouble, got good grades and pretty much popular. On the other hand, Steve is the kind of boy who often got into trouble, his family was a mess; his Dad left him since he was little, and his mother is drunk almost all of the time.
But both of them are obsessed in a particular thing. Darren with his spiders. And Steve with his vampires.
So one day, they found a flyer that said that there’s a show called Cirque Du Freak, the show where freaks perform and show why they are called unique and different from a normal human being.
The show caught their attention. And even though Darren is supposed to be grounded, Steve convinced him to sneak out of his house and attend the show.
So they went to the show. And saw lots of freaks and how freaky they were amazed them enough to keep their eyes locked to the stage. The performance that amazed them the most were Larten Crepsley and his spider Octa. When Steve recognized that Larten Crepsley was actually a vampire called Van Horsten, but Darren was too absorbed with Octa, until he didn’t really recognized what Steve said.
So after the show, Darren crept into Mr. Crepsley’s room and stole Octa from there and recognized that Crepsley is actually a vampire. But before he made his escape, he saw that Steve pleaded to Crepsley to change him into a vampire but Crepsley refused.
And on the next day, Steve found out that Darren had stole the spider from Crepsley, he was so mad until Octa slipped away and runaway. But when trying to chase Octa, instead of caught it and put it back to its cage, Steve wants to hit it with a broom or simply killed it.
The creature didn’t like Steve because of that, and at the end, it bite him.
Octa was poisonous and after Steve got bitten by it, the poison got into his body till he went into a coma and brought to the hospital.
So Darren, feeling guilty went back to Crepsley to ask for an antidote for Steve, so he will recover. Crepsley got what he wanted. But he didn’t want to give it just for free. He made a deal with Darren, that he will give him the antidote only if Darren wants to be his assistant. But to be one, Darren has to transform himself into a vampire.
And so did he transformed and saved his best friend’s life.
I don’t want to make a long review because it’s useless, and it’s better to watch the movie rather than reading the boring review.
The movie is great. Especially because this is the first time I saw Josh Hutcherson playing the role of the bad guy and not the Mr.Goody-Two-Shoes. And how the battle scene, where he as Steve fought with Darren because Steve thought Darren had betrayed him, was awesome. He looks evil here but it’s cool. He got into the role pretty well and it makes him became a good professional actor.
And Patrick Fugit also starred in this movie as Evra the Snake Boy. Yes, it’s Patrick Fugit, the cute boy who played the lead character in the movie Almost Famous!! He looks so adorable in Almost Famous and I’m hypnotized by the way he acted. I just can’t believe how much he had changed and now in this movie, he didn’t look so cute anymore (especially because in this movie, he is a freak with hideous skin) and obviously he’s a grown up. I missed the 15-year-old version of Patrick... :(
Anyway, this movie could be a fun company for spending the weekend. :)
